The Ontario Professional Foresters Association is responsible for licensing and regulating the practice of professional forestry in Ontario in accordance with the Ontario Professional Foresters Act, 2000. Its key mandate is to serve and protect the public interests with respect to the management of Ontario’s forests as set out in the Act. Anyone legally practicing professional forestry in Ontario must be a member.

Professional Foresters Act, 2000

The Professional Foresters Act, 2000 (Bill 110) Chapter S.O. 2000, c.18 (An Act respecting the regulation of the practice of Professional Forestry) designates the Ontario Professional Foresters Association as a professional body that regulates and governs the profession of professional forestry in Ontario. This Act replaces the earlier Act passed in 1957.
